Multidisciplinary artist and transfeminist activist, Jul Maroh tells stories about modern intimacy and its political facets.

After studying at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts de St Luc as well as at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, their comic book Blue Is The Warmest Color was published in 2010. This book received various awards, has been translated in more than 15 languages, and was adapted for the cinema under the title La Vie d’Adèle (Palme d’Or at Cannes 2013).

Jul Maroh then published Skandalon, Brahms, Corps Sonores, and You Brought Me The Ocean.

Aside of their books, they curated the spatial storytelling entitled Procession at the CAPC in Bordeaux (museum of contemporary art) in 2014, and went on covering political news through their webcomics from a queer and antifascist perspective.

They also co-founded the feminist collective Bd Egalité in 2015.

Their current works are directly inspired by their transgender experience and LGBTQ+ issues. Among those projects figures a four-handed graphic novel with writer Sabrina Calvo talking about queer polyamory in a world that is becoming more and more fascist. They also work on the adaptation of a poem by Mireille Havet, and a series of large-scale portraits on wood evoking trans resilience and the mythological figure of Chiron.

They currently are a resident at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris (2022-2023).
